Flashback Friday (11/21/2014)

#FBF #FlashbackFriday #Winnipeg #FirstFemaleMagicClubMember #MagicMikeLikey #ColleenNick Circa 1992/3, I was asked to do a caricature/presentation for Winnipeg's Magic Club Magic Circle 7's long time member, Robert Barker. I was also instrumental in having the club's first female member (I was told) be inducted. Pictured here is myself, Bob, the late Herb Link, and Colleen Nick. What an amazing club...not only good magicians, but really nice guys! How blessed I was to be a member. For the younger guys, the IBM - International Brotherhood of Magicians was co-founded by Winnipegger Len Vintus; the Linking Ring (the I.B.M.'s official publication) was printed there for many years, too! Such legends as Mel Stover and the founder of the Society of Young Magicians, Bill Brace, were also Winnipeggers. As a Montrealer, I feel privileged to have been a part of this illustrious tradition for the 13 years I lived there.

Flashback Friday (11/07/2014)

#FBF #FlashbackFriday #Winnipeg #MagicMikeLikey Circa 1985 a couple of my larger illusions. Back then I had an expert craftsman from rural Manitoba build for me from the Osborne plans a Mis-Made Illusion, Zig-Zag, Lester Lake Guillotine, Improved Thin Model Sawing a Lady in Half, and a Doll House Illusion, among others. I was so small back then, I would sometimes be produced from the Doll House, or the Mis-Made became a Stack of Boxes illusion! Crazy!

Throwback Thursday (11/06/2014)

#TBT #ThrowbackThursday #KiddieCabaret 1985-1989 preceded #MagicMikesCastle which ran 1989-1993, followed by #MagicMikeAndCompany 1993-1994. We didn't miss a beat as the sets, costumes, casts, and themes changed from series to series. We literally ran Kiddie Cabaret until July 1989, then the following week started Magic Mike's Castle, which would see a successful run until 1993. We used chroma-key for many of the segments of Kiddie Cabaret, which had a circus-y, vaudeville/carnivalesque/"blackout", "Laugh-in" quick-change-format. We would literally run from one end of the "Doctor Wizzo Knock-Knock Jokes" segment, with only a 5-second graphic-and-music bumper into the "Puppet Theatre", or "Clown College" segments, because we were recording "live-to-tape" with no editing back then! Thank-you #Winnipeg #VPW #DarrellScarrett #WindWalker #CurtisBreslaw #RosalieLazar #AlanFriedman #EliHerscovitch #AinsleyHurst These are the only remaining stills from the series!
